2010 was my second year as installation coordinator of FLISoL Bogota. Bogota city FLISoL is one of the biggest events in all latinamerica, with a lot of people, aa lot of activities and a lot of installations. This responsability was taken again on the final meeting of FLISoL 2009. Today I feel I do a great job and propose a procedure to this important area on FLISoL and other events.

I have some fails, one of them was the imposibility to setup Flisys, with the special changes made by Edmundo Cardona. I feel for fist time in a long time that Internet network works fine, at least on installation arena. I feel the networking desing and deployment was good. The treatment with people was good and there was a good communication between the installers and the pc owners.

There’s a lot of ideas, learning and experience not only for this kind of activities, I mean, a lot of things for the life, and proffesionally, things to be a good CIO. Today a lot of people realiced about how big is this kind of activities, how much time it involve, how much of you this need. So, this is my last year as installation area leader. I have to give the oportunity to new people to learn and improve what we’ve done.

My special thanks to Ruri Himura for his help on 2010 FLISoL. Kortux for his help on 2009 FLISoL. Diana Posada and my aunt Befana for support all my angers and crazy requeriments. Diego Guerrero for his experience and help on 2010 FLISoL. To the distro teams and of course, all the installers and people who allow us to instal open source software on they machines.

OpenApps Febe 2.7

En su edición 2.7 llega OpenApps Febe. Una recopilación de aplicaciones libres para ser ejecutadas en sistemas operativos Microsoft Windows. Esta edición incluye 36 aplicaciones para uso en diferentes escenarios: Educación, Ofimática, Infantil, Internet, Diseño gráfico, Desarrollo, Utilidades y por supuesto, Multimedia. I suppost to be in San Andrés island and cover that trip with day 11 and 12, but nope. Today I’m in Bogotá because I have a very important activity: presentation to the juries of the grade work made with Ruri along a year. So, the last academic activity as pregrade on the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas was today .

The stall balance is good, we obtain 4.5 over 5, but I think this grade could be higger and also get the meritory about or thesis, bup, whatever, everything is done and history on UD finish.

Almost six or seven years studing hard, well, almost . When I started at 2003, I don’t think about  today, all the goals and  tknowledge, but it’s only the start.  I feel so thankful with open source philosophy, Linux, and of course,  all the support of Ruri.

All the things lived in  the University were pretty interesting, there were a lot of oportunities, some really good teachers, others not so good and some really bad teachers. Also greats friends like Laura, Dieguito, Robinson, Lina and more. Also my beloved woman, Ruri.

Well, the path continue with get some certifications and all the studies about CISSP. So, let’s go

Ha been a long time since last OpenApps release and last ACLibre project news. Well Ruri and I decide to work again in OpenApps, thinking about new release. Last release was 2.5 (Hypnos and Thanatos) .

Thanks to FLISoL and revive ACLibre’s project we are going to workin 2.6 version. We don’t know how to call it (code name). All we know is that OpenApps2.6 is going to be better and the quality is going to increase.

KDE4.1 Don´t Look back talk on SLUD

Once upon a time a young boy called jeffrey, aka Jeffto, meet KDE. And that´s how the story starts, yesterday I worte another page in that history, a new page, but how?

Well, this week that finished today, in Bogotá City is celebrating SLUD7 (Semana Linux Universidad Distrital), one of the biggest OpenSource and free software events in Colombia. Some days ago I was announced as a talker, and finally, a KDE talk

So my menthor (Juna Luis Baptiste) teach me some stuffs about KDE4.1, and give me some advices to apply along the talk. Tha talk was yesterday, and was amazing, I realiced how much I know about KDE project and how fantastic it is.

Using my Debian laptop I show along one hour almost all the new technologies that includes KDE4, and teach some useful things.

En días pasados tome la decisión de dejar la dirección de Essentia Libre al interior de ACLibre, debido a que deseo iniciar nuevos proyectos y retomar algunos que tengo olvidados, de la misma manera el darle continuidad a la revista la cual debido a montones de trabajo y ser el último año de universidad, no ha salido a la luz.

Quedo a espera de ver quien será mi sucesor, ya sea del interior de ACLibre o de afuera, de la comunidad.

Fue una gran experiencia el crear, dar vida, compartir con muchas personas, realizar entrevistas, mejor dicho, de todo un poco. A todos con quienes compartí la experiencia durante mucho tiempo.

Por el momento no es más, siento un poco de nostalgia al escribir esta entrada, pero siento la tranquilidad que la tarea se hizo bien, espero ayudar a quien tome la responsabilidad, ojala sea Ruri, a seguir dando vida a la revista.

Penúltima semana de clases, aún faltan 3 entregas, una habilitación, que mal por eso último pero el estudiante no se esforzó tanto como debía y el docente por segunda ocasión (ya había visto una materia con el mismo con iguales resultados) resultó un completo fiasco.

En estos momentos hay un poco de cansancio, pero aún faltan cosas por terminar, mi trabajo con QWERTY , las responsabilidades con el SUN TEAM UNIVERSITY, la cada vez más próxima Campus Party y por supuesto, Essentia, que ya está en proceso. Ups, casi lo olvido, La tesis para la Universidad, ufffff.

Aún  no se cual sea el balance de este semestre, solo se que aprendí demasiado por cuenta de 2 asignaturas y el trabajo, además de la experimentación en los pocos tiempos libres. Parece ser que sigue el record de no pasar en vela una noche o más estudiando .

Me siento contento, hay mucho hecho y por hacer y esto me mantiene en pie de lucha cada día. Así que fuerzas don jeffto en la última semana y tranquilo que ya se acerca un poco de descanso.

Ahhhh, nada que llega mi nuevo laptop :’(
