4am and I’m wake up. I not used to sleep with condittion air or cold air systems. So let’s talk about this trip and the things that i’ve done. So right know i’m in Barrancabermeja. Yesterday the temperature was on 32 ºC. Today seems is going to be hotest than today but when this happends I going to be in my beloved Bogota city.

I came to Barrancabermeja to give a talk about open soure software on the first Encuentro Regional de Territorios digitales del Magdalena Medio. So the talk takes 2 hours and was really amazing to talk to the people about this topic with more experience than other thing. At the end of the talk all the paople received a CD with OpenApps and gone with the idea to try Open Source software at house, school and work.

After the congress end time to tourism and see:

• Eat salpicón with ice cream
• See a perforation on a residential zone looking for oil.
• Magdalena’s river strenght moving faster to the sea.
• Kola Hipinto
• The hard smell of the oil at Ecopetrol refinery’s zone
• A really amazing heat
• Search for air condittioning places.

I want to share the presentation used with Ruri Himura on Campus Party

Be on Campus Party is a great experience, but the experience goes beyond the high speed internet channel or play games for several hours. This is my third year and I want to share some advices and things to sugest to you, to do on Campus Party and have a real party. This experience have been shared with Ruri Himura, my dear girl.

You can do a lot of things, you’re not alone, you can share with a lot of people, just break the geek and start to have fun. So, here some activities to do:

• Go to the presentations and tutorials, this could be very useful to you to increase your technology knowledge and have more tools and ideas to apply on your work.
• Do hacklabs, technical nights. This is te time to do all the things you have ever wanted but you can’t because there is always a excuse. Take ventage of the technological fever and do real cool stuff and activities. Don’t be hours and hours the same things yo do at home every night, really have fun.
• Be a Blogger, take photos, videos, meet people, interview people, and more.
• Share time and activities with people of other areas, like developers, gamers, astronomy, graphical designers. That’s the way you can stablish contacts and of course new friendship
• Participate in contest and tournaments, maybe some prize could be yours
• The party it’s made by yourself, so, don’t be bored and have fun

¿What I planned to do?

• Hack my old iphone and install Android on it
• Setup a Wargame about Operative systems and apps with some friends
• Give with Ruri Himura a great conference about information security and IT management.
• share with friends , bloggers, gamers, developers and security people activities, ideas and more.
• Release Software Freedom Day Bogotá 2010 with streaming for outside
• Share and get certification and study resources
• And of course, have fun

¿Y tu que vas a hacer?

This year it’s out third time on Campus Party Colombia. This year we (with RuriHimura) are going to talk about Information security. Out talk is going to be on June 30th at 21:00 on Security and Network area.  Talk name:  Metodologías ágiles para creación de planes y políticas de seguridad.

Next May 19th in Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas, engineering auditorium I’m going to talk about the sysadmin path, the work, the goals and what you can search in this profession. On Third Systems Engineer Week, I going to share some of my exoeriences with students and teachers showing how being system administrator there’s another way different to be a developer.

2010 was my second year as installation coordinator of FLISoL Bogota. Bogota city FLISoL is one of the biggest events in all latinamerica, with a lot of people, aa lot of activities and a lot of installations. This responsability was taken again on the final meeting of FLISoL 2009. Today I feel I do a great job and propose a procedure to this important area on FLISoL and other events.

I have some fails, one of them was the imposibility to setup Flisys, with the special changes made by Edmundo Cardona. I feel for fist time in a long time that Internet network works fine, at least on installation arena. I feel the networking desing and deployment was good. The treatment with people was good and there was a good communication between the installers and the pc owners.

There’s a lot of ideas, learning and experience not only for this kind of activities, I mean, a lot of things for the life, and proffesionally, things to be a good CIO. Today a lot of people realiced about how big is this kind of activities, how much time it involve, how much of you this need. So, this is my last year as installation area leader. I have to give the oportunity to new people to learn and improve what we’ve done.

My special thanks to Ruri Himura for his help on 2010 FLISoL. Kortux for his help on 2009 FLISoL. Diana Posada and my aunt Befana for support all my angers and crazy requeriments. Diego Guerrero for his experience and help on 2010 FLISoL. To the distro teams and of course, all the installers and people who allow us to instal open source software on they machines.

15 days of travel,  15 cities, a lot of miles, a lot of dead hours in each airport, new friend, 3 countries, this was the big tour

I thinks this trip is going to be forever in my mind. All starts with me taking a bus to Villavicencio. After a road with 4 tunnels, one of them along 4.1km; beautiful landscapes, heat, cold and every possible weather the bus finally arrive. I get down and take a taxi, but I forget the monitor of one server on the bus, so, make a turn on the taxi and “Mr. if you can fly, please do it”, we arribe at bus terminal, and fly to search the bus or his driver, but, nope, the bus continue the travel, so it passes at this point almost 5 minutes ago, so, a lot of pain on me. Get the driver cell number and thanks to god and my wonderful luck he answeer and realiced that the monitor box was mine, so get the taxi again an run to the hills, well, to the bus stop. But a very bad police officer wants to give a infraction to my driver, so I have to ask for mercy and finally with jeffto almost crying, the taxi could start to fly again. When I see the bus my heart start to bit slow. The monitor was with me again.

Well, after the work on the airport, time to eat something, so I suggest you to get a great lunch at the restaurant crossing the “peaje” going to Restrepo, and before the street of the airport. What a delicius meat, a really good taste.

Coming back to Bogota, the trip take more time and I was super hyper exhausted, but I’ve to work with some servers so again to the airport and do some work. Mi last work in my actual job, b

IMPORTANT: I must not forget my ID at home, specially when I have to trip…

My last flight of this tour. All begins with me on a seat next to a group of young mothers which thanks to his baby I have to close the “window light” of the seat row, so I lost all the landscape of the flight.

When the flight landed happend one really cool thing. Aires was starting a new route from Bogota to Cucuta, so the bomberman department recive the plane and start to throw water on it. Well, I arribe to Cucuta, the capiutal city of Norte de Santander deparment, also a city knowed for the heat and his people.

Time to work, so, one server more and only one last. After meet all the cool people of the airport time to go to the city, first to DIAN (Aduanas) and then to the center of the city at National Palace where is located the tax division of DIAN. This was really good because there were really good technical people in both places. At this time I received some news a great news.

Well, all finished, so time to go to Venezuela. I take my bag, get a bus and start a trip to Ureña, a small town in San Antonio de Tachira on Venezuela’s territory. Being there I bought some stuffs, specially food to bring to Bogota. But unfortunately thanks to my chicken head I left my ID at home, so I ‘ve to come back quickly to the airport to get some help, because, without ID being Cucuta a frontier, well, I suppost I can’t came back.

Again at the airport I have to ask for help to the airport people because I have my ID on my Pc, so I have to printi it and after some hours waiting for my flight and almost a crying day. I could enter to the board gate and save my day… Aand, continue waiting because Aires was doing a small party to celebrate the new trip, so my flight was delayed for almost 1 hour…

Then, fiunally in Bogotá.

The end is closer. The end not only means the gran tour, means more things. Later I hope to talk about it. So, friday i’m in love and  I was in Cali. The capital city of Valle del Cauca department, and also the capital of the salsa dance. After a smooth trip and stay in a seat on the opossite side of the beautiful landscapes , I finally arrive to the international airport of Cali, located on Palmira’s small city at almost30kms of Cali city. My second time on that airport, but this take much time than the first one.

Aerocivil people gave me all the indications to go to Cali city, so I take a bus and the travel take me across huge yards of caña and also a lot of factories. Thanks to a stupid driver I get down very far from my first destiny. So I have to take MIO, the massive transport system of Cali, very quite like Transmilenio but with blue buses, less signals and information, but less people than Bogota. Time to work and take some photos, there was a very good landscape and places up from the top of a big building.

Then, trip to another place and this was so far and funny/scary because I have to be like a scarcrow to some Chulos aqnd then done a work very disgusting to me, repair printers… I have to get a bus to the terminal and get other bus to the airport. This time there was another landscape, some factories, one of them was Cerveceria del valle, I don’t use to drink alcohol but I have to say that this photo looks great.

Time to work at airport, the things don’t go pretty well as I expect. The rest of the day I share my long noon with Fredy, the technical guy of the airport.

Then after a long long long long wait my flight start and I retutn to Bogota. Finally a weekend to get rest, well, almost.
