So, this is the begining of a serie of post which going to talk about metodology, documentation and resources to anyone who wants to learn and work with information security management and related topics.

Is going to be a serie of 4 or 5 post whit this topics:

I used some solutions like human backups, Cobian, tarballs and scripts but isn’t the best solution. Some days ago I have the oportunity to meet Bacula. Bacula it’s an open source software which work under server/client scheme and allow several features in a reliable, secure and easy way.

Bacula support backups policies, full, differential and others backups kinds. You create storage pools which can be stored on external drives or wherever you want. Have tape support and of course, manage communitacion with some security levels.

A good architecture to create a backup scheme could be: Over Solaris install Bacula server using ZFS to create several pools or /and Raid-Z. Create the schedules, install the clients and perform some extra configs to create a reliable backup schema. Then start the backups

I love the reading. I love the Books. I love detective fiction or detective story.  Last year final days and the new days of 2010 was a gold oportunity to get some new books and improve the library. A libreary created and “filled” with our favorite books and stories. Ruri Himura help me to get some books and here’s the list.

1. The daughter of time – Josephine Tey (The best detective fiction of all the times)

2. Red Harvest, The Dain Curse, The Maltese Falcon, The Glass Key and The Thin Man – Dashiell Hammett (One of the masters of this genre)

3. Cryptonomicon – Neil Stephenson – (Well, this is crytography, maths and “hacker” history)

4. Necronomicon and the best weird tales – H.P. Lovecraft (Ruri have odd histories with Cthulu)

5. Sherlock Holmes The complete novels and stories – Sin Arthur Conan Doyle – (As ever, book beats movie)

6. The postman always rings twice, double idemnity, Mildred Pierce and selected stories – James M. Cain (A lot of Femme Fatale)

7. The talented Mr. Ripley, Ripley under ground and Ripley’s game – Patricia Highsmith (One of the most greathes histories about a murder, a psicological murder)

Everything isn’t internet, tv and games, we love the pleassure of reading and increase our mind skills for create, thinks and solve mistery. In a few days we plain to release our Ex-Libris, for our books   Here some photos of our books

Today almost 60% of the people use Gmail or Google Apps as mail server. But all that glitter is not gold. A lot of technology experts thinks about the mega growth of Google as a potencial danger. They are creating a technological dependence, this can create a situation related with the best years of Microsoft, asociated to this appear terms like Monopoly, goverment manipulation and more. A few days ago, a Germany minister talks about the dangerous growth of this corporation and de power gained thanks to the informatacion and data manipulation.

I’m user of google and some services, therefore I always have been aware. So much information in their hands is dangerous because as happend in George Orwell novel “1984″, the information can be changed according to the situation. This weeks after China hack to Google,  some people have make a question, Google Friend or foe?

Now, they released the web browser, the smartphone, and the operative system is comming (far away for countries with slow networks). It’s time to thinks about the future and decide how much info we are going to give to them, and remember, the information is power.

Yesterday I become Sun Certified Solaris Administrator, on Solaris 10. I feel very happy about this, because it’s one of my year goals, also this certification allow me to work with this technologies on several enterprices. Right now I’ve passed 2 exams of 4, the networking and the security one will be passed along this year.

Well, after the work on the airport, time to eat something, so I suggest you to get a great lunch at the restaurant crossing the “peaje” going to Restrepo, and before the street of the airport. What a delicius meat, a really good taste.

Coming back to Bogota, the trip take more time and I was super hyper exhausted, but I’ve to work with some servers so again to the airport and do some work. Mi last work in my actual job, b

My last flight of this tour. All begins with me on a seat next to a group of young mothers which thanks to his baby I have to close the “window light” of the seat row, so I lost all the landscape of the flight.

When the flight landed happend one really cool thing. Aires was starting a new route from Bogota to Cucuta, so the bomberman department recive the plane and start to throw water on it. Well, I arribe to Cucuta, the capiutal city of Norte de Santander deparment, also a city knowed for the heat and his people.

Time to work, so, one server more and only one last. After meet all the cool people of the airport time to go to the city, first to DIAN (Aduanas) and then to the center of the city at National Palace where is located the tax division of DIAN. This was really good because there were really good technical people in both places. At this time I received some news a great news.

Well, all finished, so time to go to Venezuela. I take my bag, get a bus and start a trip to Ureña, a small town in San Antonio de Tachira on Venezuela’s territory. Being there I bought some stuffs, specially food to bring to Bogota. But unfortunately thanks to my chicken head I left my ID at home, so I ‘ve to come back quickly to the airport to get some help, because, without ID being Cucuta a frontier, well, I suppost I can’t came back.

Again at the airport I have to ask for help to the airport people because I have my ID on my Pc, so I have to printi it and after some hours waiting for my flight and almost a crying day. I could enter to the board gate and save my day… Aand, continue waiting because Aires was doing a small party to celebrate the new trip, so my flight was delayed for almost 1 hour…

Then, fiunally in Bogotá.

Aerocivil people gave me all the indications to go to Cali city, so I take a bus and the travel take me across huge yards of caña and also a lot of factories. Thanks to a stupid driver I get down very far from my first destiny. So I have to take MIO, the massive transport system of Cali, very quite like Transmilenio but with blue buses, less signals and information, but less people than Bogota. Time to work and take some photos, there was a very good landscape and places up from the top of a big building.

Then, trip to another place and this was so far and funny/scary because I have to be like a scarcrow to some Chulos aqnd then done a work very disgusting to me, repair printers… I have to get a bus to the terminal and get other bus to the airport. This time there was another landscape, some factories, one of them was Cerveceria del valle, I don’t use to drink alcohol but I have to say that this photo looks great.

Time to work at airport, the things don’t go pretty well as I expect. The rest of the day I share my long noon with Fredy, the technical guy of the airport.

Then after a long long long long wait my flight start and I retutn to Bogota. Finally a weekend to get rest, well, almost.
